PlayOff WIN!!!

Last week, we beat Marble Falls-Black in the first playoff game. Yesterday, we beat Dripping Springs-White. This team was not an unknown team to us. We had played them in our very first game – and lost. However, that game was counted as an exhibition game, so it went on neither team’s record. And then we had the chance to meet again.

Energy was high. Parents and families, not only of our team, but also of the Pee-Wee Texans (who played before us) and the Varsity Texans (who played after us), crowded onto the stands after cheering the players through breaking the banner. We sat, anticipatory and tense, and waited for the game to begin.

During the first quarter, there was no score for either team.

During the second quarter, Mat broke away and made a touchdown! We also succeeded with the extra point.

The third and fourth quarters were a battle like none other. A rousing cheer should be given to our defense, who gave it their all every play. We won the game, with bumps and bruises and plenty of soreness today.

After the game, both teams (and parents) met at the center of the field. The Tigers (Dripping Springs) were given the second place trophy, because this was, in fact, the District Championship game. And then our team was given the first place trophy, amidst much cheering.

As our coach said in the post-game, post-trophy speech: “A perfect game, by a perfect team.”

Thus it is that we are on to the Superbowl next Saturday to play the winner of the South Division: Bulverde. The game will be in Boerne, and we invite you all to come! Stay turned for times...
